XFO 40: June 25, 2011

XFO Event: Lakemoor Banquet Facility: 28874 Rand Road, Lakemoor IL

The XFO (xtreme fight organization) not only breeds and showcases many of the best local fighters in the Chicago area, but they are also becoming the promotion for big name fighters — even legends — to get back on the comeback trail.

After shacking up for months at Curran Martial Arts to resurrect his career, Jens Pulver got his first win in over 4 years at XFO 38. In May, former WEC champion Jamie Varner got his first win in over two years by beating Tyler Combs at XFO 39. And now at XFO 40, Chicago mma fight fans will get to see another legend fighting for the first time in over two years: Chris “The Westside Strangler” Brennan.

Brennan has fought everyone and everywhere in an amazing MMA career that began professionally in 1996. He battled Pat Miletich 3 times. He’s fought Joe Stevenson, Takanori Gomi and Tatsuya Kawajiri. He’s fought in the UFC, King of the Cage, Pride, Shooto and Gracie Fighting Championships. And on June 25th he will resume his storied career at XFO 40. (more…)

XFO 39 – May 13th

The XTreme Fighting Organization presents XFO 39 live at the Sears Centre Arena in Hoffman Estates, IL on Friday, May 13 at 7 p.m.

This XFO event features over 10 exciting bouts, the biggest professional Mixed Martial Arts show of the year in the Midwest. The main event features Chicago’s MMA Superstar and UFC/WEC Veteran and former World Title Contender Jeff “Big Frog” Curran (35-13-1) of Crystal Lake, IL as he takes on Joe “Triangular Strangler” Pearson of Davenport, IA. The bout will take place at the bantamweight class of 135lbs.
The Co-Main Event features a war between a Midwest king-pin, Tyler “Superman” Combs (15-5) of Ohio taking another shot at becoming recognized among the elite in the lightweight division as he faces off against former 3x WEC World Champ, Jamie Varner (16-6) of Arizona.  Varner looks to break his recent curse that has hovered over him since losing his Belt in the WEC to Ben Henderson back in January of 2010.  Combs, a well rounded prospect has won 2 of his last 4 fights falling to 2 of UFC’s lightweights, Mike Lullo and Bart “Bartimus” Palaszewski over the past 2 years.
The evening of fights will also showcase two of MMA’s hottest up and coming female fighters, Felice “Lil Bull Dog” Herrig of Chicago and Michelle “Diablita” Gutierrez of Las Vegas.  They are both currently part of a movement to represent Women Fighters worldwide by representing the release of the video game, Supremacy MMA, the first ever MMA Video Game featuring women.
